Award Winning Home Landscape Photo

Planned and Newly Constructed Communities

For new developments with homeowners associations, the developer must incorporate the Model Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ (FFL) Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions, implement the Florida-Friendly principles through the restrictions, and pass a followup inspection approximately two years following opening of the community to keep the Florida-Friendly designation. For the model restrictions, please visit:

Checklist for Newly Constructed Commercial, Governmental, Multi-family and Single-family

The experimental Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Checklist for New Construction for commercial, governmental, and multi-family new construction (apartments, condominiums, and single family homes) is now available. There are two levels of designation: Standard and Gold.

The Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program invites your feedback on the efficacy of the list, and will use the feedback to revise the list in 2012. Email Brian Niemann, state builder and developer coordinator, FFL, bniemann81@ufl.edu, to provide your feedback.

Existing Communities

Homeowner associations and condominiums: You can set an attractive Florida-Friendly example for your residents! Make sure your common areas are Florida-Friendly. And you can follow the “Existing Communities” provisions of the Model Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions. See also Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Architectural Review Board Considerations. For both, visit:

Awards

The Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ Program has partnered with the Community Association Journal’s Community of Excellence Awards to recognize established communities that take steps toward incorporating Florida-Friendly practices.
